NSO musician Glenn Donnellan has joined together two of his most unlikely likes: the violin and … baseball?? Yes! In this home-run performance, kids are introduced to the Electric Slugger™--a new electric violin that he custom made out of a Louisville Slugger(r) baseball bat. Playing a variety of

violins from around the world, Donnellan brings together far-flung musical styles--from mystical Eastern music to American fiddling, Vivaldi to Van Halen--revealing the histories of these world instruments and the science of how a violin makes its music. For age 4 and up.

Come early for the Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo." Starting one hour before each Kinderkonzert, this hands-on activity in the Boys and Girls Clubs Game Room gives children a chance to get up close with the instruments they'll see played on stage--from violins and trumpets to oboes and flutes. A

project of the Women's Committee for the NSO.
